All About Microneedling

 What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment that stimulates collagen and elastin production. Fine needles create tiny micro-injuries in the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response. With minimal downtime, microneedling provides natural, long-lasting skin rejuvenation.

What are the benefits?

✔ Improve skin texture and tone

✔ Reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging

✔ Minimize acne scars, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation

✔ Enhance the absorption of skincare products

How many treatments will I need for optimal results?

The number of sessions varies based on your skin concerns:

  • General skin rejuvenation: 4-6 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart

  • Acne scars & deeper wrinkles: 4-6 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart

  • Stretch marks or significant scarring: 6+ sessions, spaced 6 weeks apart

Your provider will determine whether Rapid Microneedling or Monthly Microneedling is best for your needs.

Do I Need to Prepare My Skin?

Yes! Vitamin A is essential for prepping the skin before microneedling. Applying it for 6-8 weeks prior to treatment:

✔ Strengthens the skin barrier

✔ Enhances collagen production

✔ Speeds up healing and minimizes inflammation

✔ Reduces the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation

If you have sensitivity to Vitamin A (Retinol, Retin A), we recommend using AnteAGE MD Biosome System as an alternative, which includes Bakuchiol—a plant-derived retinol alternative that stimulates collagen, reduces wrinkles, evens skin tone, and soothes the skin without irritation.

Does Microneedling Hurt?

With proper numbing, the treatment is comfortable. You can relax, nap, or work while numbing takes effect. Each patient's sensitivity varies, but our medical providers ensure your comfort throughout.

What Happens During The Treatment?
  1. Numbing: You’ll arrive early for topical anesthetic application in-office (we do not provide take-home numbing).
  2. Cleansing: Your skin will be triple-cleansed.
  3. Microneedling: A fine-needle instrument creates tiny punctures, triggering collagen production.
  4. Post-Treatment Care: A calming, cool cream is applied, along with serums (peptides, vitamin serums, or pigment treatments, customized during consultation).
When do I see results?

Collagen production takes time—your best results appear 4-6 months post-treatment, after two full skin turnover cycles.

Advanced Medical Microneedling

With Jeanette Oka M.D.

Meet Your Skin365 Advanced Microneedling Specialist

Jeanette Oka, M.D. has been part of the Skin365 team since 2010. In 2012, she was personally trained by Dr. Des Fernandes, the pioneer of microneedling, making her one of the few specialists in the U.S. with this
level of expertise. Clients travel from all over the country to experience her advanced techniques.

Dr. Oka will apply a topical anaesthetic cream to your skin and use an instrument containing fine needles to repeatedly prick the skin's surface. This causes a minimal amount of bleeding. Afterward, Dr. Oka applies an array of nourishing vitamins A, C, peptides, and hyaluronic acid to soothe the skin. Dr. Oka will provide all details during your consultation.

Since a topical anesthetic will be applied to your face for 30 minutes, the feeling of the needles penetrating your skin won't be painful and shouldn't be a concern. Each patient's pain tolerance and sensitivity levels may vary, and Dr. Oka will ensure you're comfortable during the entire session.

About the Procedure

A progressive, minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation procedure, also known as collagen induction therapy, used to treat a variety of skin concerns.

The concept of microneedling is based on the skin’s ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical injury. Immediately after an injury occurs, our skin dissolves old damaged tissue and replaces it with new.

During the treatment, small needles prick the surface of the skin creating tiny columns of slight injury to the skin which, in turn, causes the skin to respond by producing new collagen-rich tissue. This rejuvenates the skin, improving the appearance, smoothing skin texture, and aiding in the treatment of skin issues such as acne and aging skin.
