Microneedling
With Jeanette Oka M.D. and Elizabeth Sommers RN, BSN
About the Procedure
A progressive, minimally-invasive skin rejuvenation procedure, also known as collagen induction therapy, used to treat a variety of skin concerns.
The concept of microneedling is based on the skin’s ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical injury. Immediately after an injury occurs, our skin dissolves old damaged tissue and replaces it with new.
During the treatment, small needles prick the surface of the skin creating tiny columns of slight injury to the skin which, in turn, causes the skin to respond by producing new collagen-rich tissue. This rejuvenates the skin, improving the appearance, smoothing skin texture, and aiding in the treatment of skin issues such as acne and aging skin.
